A kid-friendly guide to understanding kindness, courage, and the superheroes who help others.
🌟 Who is a Humanitarian?
Have you ever shared your lunch with a friend who forgot theirs? Or helped someone who fell down? If you have, you’ve already been a humanitarian! A humanitarian is anyone who helps other people, especially when they are in trouble. They are like real-life superheroes of kindness.
Every year on August 19th, we celebrate World Humanitarian Day to say "thank you" to all the amazing helpers around the world and to remember that we can all be one, too!
🌍 Why do we celebrate this day?
- It's a day created by the United Nations to honour aid workers who risk their lives to help others during difficult times like floods, earthquakes, or wars.
- It reminds us of the importance of empathy – understanding and sharing the feelings of others.
- It encourages us all to believe in a simple idea: #NoMatterWhat, everyone deserves help and kindness.
